Mark's career has unusually seen him serve at senior levels in both the private and public sectors and within political circles.

Before his commencement with TG Public Affairs, Mark was Group Head of Government Relations and Regulatory Affairs for the Westpac Banking Corporation. As such, he advised the Bank’s Board and Senior Management on all legislative, regulatory and reputational risk issues affecting the Bank’s interests.

Prior to Westpac, Mark served as a Senior Adviser to then Prime Minister, the Hon John Howard MP, working within the Cabinet Policy Unit. He assisted in the development of whole of Government policy, with day-to-day Cabinet processes and was responsible for co-ordination of the Coalition’s election policy platform. He also served as the Prime Minister’s senior speechwriter. He maintains strong links with senior Liberal figures at the federal level and in all State jurisdictions.

Mark spent 15 years with Advance Bank, culminating in his appointment as Chief Executive – ACT Region. He also served as Secretary of the Department of Business, Arts, Sport and Tourism (ACT Govt).

Mark was awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in 2019 for services to the community of Canberra.

John Brenton is a former diplomat with specialist advocacy expertise. He designs and executes bespoke strategies to support TG Public Affairs clients achieve commercial outcomes at the intersection of politics and commerce.  He is also a specialist in government tender advisory, having designed and executed campaigns to assist clients win major government contracts, particularly in the defence sector.

John brings to TG Public Affairs considerable international experience, having served as a diplomat in the United States of America (US), where he led a campaign to overturn US import bans on Australian products. John drove Australia’s economic diplomacy and engagement in the United States through 'G'Day USA' – a program which advances business cooperation with the US.  He was also instrumental in supporting visiting Australian Cabinet Ministers engage with US counterparts. 

John has substantial commercial experience gained from over a decade working in executive roles, including at Dragoman, Woolworths and Nestle.  He has a Master’s Degree in International Relations and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Commerce.

Paul Chamberlin final

Paul Chamberlin has worked in lobbying, politics, government relations and journalism in Canberra for almost 30 years. He joined TG Public Affairs in 2011.

Paul was a Senior Adviser to three Deputy Prime Ministers and Leaders of The Nationals over a 14 year period, covering the portfolios of transport, infrastructure, regional development, trade and agriculture. During that period, he specialised in media liaison, speechwriting and political tactics. He remains well known and highly regarded within The Nationals.

Before this, he was a political and economics correspondent for Fairfax newspapers and Sky News. Paul retains excellent links across Parliament House, including with the Canberra Parliamentary Press Gallery.

Brendan Tegg spent nearly six years working for the current Prime Minister, the Hon Scott Morrison, ultimately as his Director of Policy.  He was integral to policy development for the three federal budgets and during the 2019 election campaign.

He was also responsible for managing the Prime Minister’s legislative agenda and parliamentary strategy and enjoyed significant success with the passage of major pieces of controversial legislation through the Senate.

Joining Mr Morrison’s office in 2013, Brendan served first as an immigration adviser and then in increasingly senior roles supporting him in the portfolios of Social Services, Treasury (as Senior Budget/Fiscal Adviser) and finally in the Prime Minister’s office.

Brendan commenced his career as a lawyer in the Department of Immigration and Citizenship and subsequently worked for Customs and Border Protection.

Scott McGrath SQUARE

Political staffing has been central to Scott’s career, which most recently saw him in the office of the NSW Minister for Corrections and Counter Terrorism. As Director of Policy, the role required the delivery of key justice related programs and infrastructure projects and management of COVID-19 protocols.  In a previous role for the NSW Government, Scott was employed by the Minister for Energy and Resources. In addition, he has staffed for a federal Member of Parliament.

Scott has also worked in the nation’s principal standards body where he established its government relations function. He was required to distil the complex technical work of the organisation to bureaucrats and political decision-makers in all state jurisdictions and the Commonwealth.
