James Mackay is a former Brisbane City Councillor, serving until 2023. During his tenure, he contributed to the infrastructure, development, economic activity, and environment portfolios for Brisbane City Council, Australia’s largest local government. With an annual budget of $4.1 billion, Brisbane’s economy exceeds that of Tasmania, the ACT, and the NT combined, placing significant responsibility on its Councillors.
With a strong business background, James understands the commercial impact of government policy and the challenges posed by bureaucracy. His extensive experience in international trade and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders further highlight his practical, results-driven approach.
James also brings valuable political expertise from his time with the Liberal National Party, including his role as Campaign Finance Director. This experience has provided him with deep insights into the expectations of the new LNP government.
He holds qualifications in Politics & Public Policy, as well as Business Administration, and currently serves on the boards of the food charity Caring Cuisine and his local RSL.
